Bryan Guidry
Bryan
Guidry, head instructor at North Broadway Jiu Jitsu and Fitness, has
studied Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, Judo and Boxing for over 22 years. A
student under Rodrigo Vaghi, he has achieved the rank of 4th degree
purple belt after a 2nd place finish at the 2007 no-gi World
Championships. In 2006, he was the Bronze Medalist at the Brazilian
Jiu Jitsu World Championships in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. In 2000, he
was the silver medalist at the Pan American Games.
Bryan
has only 2 losses (Kayron Gracie and Matt Jubera) in over 40 Mixed
Martial Arts and Submission Grappling events. In 2005, he won the gi
and no-gi divisions of the Gracie Jiu Jitsu Nationals without being
scored upon. He has a victory over the
UFC's top ranked Hermes Franca in a submission grappling event.
Five of his Mixed Martial Arts victories have ended by submission in
under 2 minutes. A natural 170 pound fighter, Bryan fought up a
weight class at 185 pounds against UFC veterans Adrian Serrano and
Curtis Stout. Both fights ended in a draw. (View

Bryan is currently the conditioning coach for the St. Louis Meramec
college wrestling team. Bryan wrestled at Meramec but his collegiate
career was cut short when he completely tore his ACL/MCL knee
ligaments his freshman year. Before the injury, he caught the
attention of several Division 1 coaches after defeating wrestlers
from the University of Iowa, Iowa State, and Eastern Illinois. Bryan
went on to receive a chemical engineering degree from the University
of Missouri at Rolla and an MBA from Southern Illinois.
In high school wrestling, he placed 4th and 2nd in the Missouri
state folkstyle tournament and 3rd and 1st in the state freestyle
tournament. He placed in the top 20 out of 150 wrestlers in the
Junior National freestyle tournament.
Bryan studied Judo for several years with Bong-Yul Shin and trained
boxing for 3 years with Jim Howell at the North St. Louis Boxing
Club.
Bryan is a certified personal trainer through AFAA. (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America)
