Dave Mirikitani
Our wrestling program is led by Dave Mirikitani, wrestling coach
from Meramec Junior College. A member of the NJCAA hall of fame,
Dave won 3 Missouri State High School Championships and was named
outstanding wrestler of the tournament twice. On the national level
in high school, he placed 3rd and 1st in the Cadet Nationals in
Greco Roman and 2nd and 5th in Freestyle. At the Junior National
tournament, he placed 8th in Greco Roman. At the Espoir (20 and
under) nationals, he placed 3rd and 4th in freestyle, 4th and 5th in
Greco Roman. Dave was a 2 time Junior College All-American Wrestler
for Meramec, placing 7th and 2nd. He was a wrestler at Iowa State.
Dave competed for Team USA in the Pennsylvania Classic and Oklahoma
Classic. He placed 5th in the U.S. Olympic Festival and 6th in the
Austrian Grand Prix.
His father, Ron, is the President of the National Wrestling Coaches Association and also a member of the NJCAA hall of fame. He is the head coach at Meramec Junior College and holds the record for the most wins in Junior College history. He wrestled at Iowa State with Dan Gable. Meramec has produced 43 All-American wrestlers.
Dave won the novice division at the jiu jitsu world championships in 2007 at 154 lbs.
